4moms Revolutionizes Baby Products With Game-Changing Robotics & Technology

4moms Revolutionizes Baby Products

As the ones who often use the baby products in the marketplace on a daily basis, most moms wish companies would listen to their feedback on how to improve products. Well, that’s exactly what 4moms did! 4moms, whose mission is to solve real parent issues, used feedback from real moms to create innovative baby products that utilize robotics and technology. That means the creation of an infant seat that mimics the natural motions parents use to soothe their babies, a self-installing car seat, an infant tub with a built-in thermometer that regulates water temperature, and more!4moms will be at the 2017 Chicago Baby Show, on August 26 and 27, at Navy Pier, when the nation’s largest show for expectant and new families comes to Chicagoland. A family-friendly mega-event featuring everything to do with maternity, baby, and toddler – from top products to trusted parenting experts – the Chicago Baby Show will welcome thousands of expectant and new parents from Chicago, the surrounding suburbs, and beyond!

Tickets to the Chicago Baby Show are $30 per family, and $20 per individual.

We spoke with a member of the 4moms team, Erin Hess, to learn more about the brand and what new parents can expect at the Chicago Baby Show.

For someone unfamiliar with the culture of 4moms, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?

In one word: innovation. Our philosophy about the future of technology is not based upon science fiction stories, but on how products with everyday uses are accessible and solve real world problems for consumers.

4moms has consistently redefined the baby gear industry. For example, the popular mamaRoo infant seat was developed to address parents’ need for a place to put their baby to be soothed and entertained. We recognized that babies are happiest in the arms of their parents so we created a seat that bounces and sways like parents do when comforting their babies.

What’s the background of 4moms? When did it start? How has 4moms evolved over time?

In 2005, friends Henry Thorne, a world-leading roboticist, and Rob Daley, a successful businessman, met over lunch to discuss their individual plans for future business ventures. They both knew there were only two ways to make it as an entrepreneur: create a new market or change an existing one. After researching industries, specifically elder care and juvenile products, Rob and Henry determined that the $8.9 billion juvenile product industry presented the most appealing opportunity. Enter 4moms. Officially established in 2005, 4moms’ namesake comes from its first focus group of mothers. The group explored juvenile product pain points and provided valuable insight that led to the creation of our first product, the 4moms infant tub. Today, 4moms is a rapidly growing company that is changing the way parents think about baby gear.

self installing car seat

What are the most popular and newest products from 4moms?

4moms’ most popular product is the mamaRoo infant seat. It’s the only seat on the market that ‘moves like you do.’ It uses robotic technology to bounce and sway up and down and side-to-side, mimicking the movements of a parent soothing a child. The latest version is Bluetooth enabled. Parents can download the 4moms app and control the five unique motions and settings right from their mobile device.

In September 2016, 4moms launched the world’s first self-installing infant car seat. Knowing that four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly, the team at 4moms created an infant car seat to address this problem, and ultimately redefined child passenger safety. The 4moms self-installing car seat correctly installs itself by auto-leveling and auto-tensioning, and then verifying that the installation is correct before every ride. It also exceeds safety standards, includes advanced energy absorbing features, and integrates with a smartphone app to provide additional safety features, giving parents complete peace of mind that their car seat is installed correctly every time they put their baby in the car. The 4moms self-installing car seat is also part of the 4moms travel system.

This past fall, 4moms introduced the moxi, a new ‘power on board’ stroller that is compatible with the car seat. The moxi generates its own power, which gives parents the ability to charge their cell phones. It also illuminates pathways using both headlights and taillights, and tracks temperature, time, distance travelled, and speed via a LCD screen. The moxi can be used for newborns and children weighing up to 55 lbs. The seat transforms from a bassinet into an upright forward or rear-facing seat.

What sets 4moms apart from other baby gear brands?

4moms leverages robotics, technology, innovative design, and consumer insights to deliver dramatically better products that solve “real parent pain points.”
