For someone unfamiliar with Language Stars, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
At Language Stars, we provide play-based learning in a full immersion classroom setting. Our curriculum supports conversational language learning so that students can speak and comprehend in their target language. Classes are available for children 10 months to 12 years old in Spanish, Mandarin, French, German, Italian and Arabic.
All of our teachers are native speakers of their language. We require this so that our students hear and develop their skills with an authentic accent, while sharing in their teacher’s culture. It’s our mission to foster future generations of multilingual Americans.
Tell us about the company’s background. When did it start and how has it evolved since then?
Language Stars was founded in 1998 by Leslie Lancry. Leslie first discovered her passion for language at the age of 11 when she became a pen pal with a friend in France. At the age of 17, Leslie organized a backyard summer camp to teach French to four-year-old children in her neighborhood. Her love for teaching language culminated in creating Language Stars.
Since Language Stars was founded, it has grown to include 17 locations in Illinois, Maryland and Virginia. Language Stars also proudly partners with more than 150 schools to provide language enrichment programs.
What are the most popular and/or newest classes from Language Stars?
We offer Parents and Tots classes for children 10 months to 3 years old and Kids Only classes for children 3 to 12 years old. Every language program provides significant cognitive and social benefits, but our most popular language choices are Spanish and Mandarin.
In addition to classes, Private Immersion offers a unique opportunity for students to receive personalized 1:1 instruction from a Language Stars teacher. Depending on your learning goals, this can be very beneficial to help your child learn on a pace that meets their exact needs.
What sets Language Stars apart from other language classes for children?
Language Stars has enriched thousands of children for almost 20 years. Our FunImmersion curriculum, combined with our amazing team of caring and knowledgeable teachers creates a stimulating experience.
