Tell us about the company’s background. When did it start and how has it evolved since then?
Prenatal Fit is now in it’s 4th year. We opened in April 2014. In our first year we got noticed by Chicago Magazine as the ‘best new gym for moms and newmoms 2b’ We were very honored!
Our background story…When I was going through my first pregnancy 12years ago, I had worked at another gym here in Chicago. During that pregnancy I had started to build up their prenatal program and new mom program. Even at a very small scale, only seeing the pregnant students two times a week I was amazed to see how it really helped them through their pregnancies and help give them that extra needed support as a new mother. I wanted to make it on a bigger scale so I could help more women. That is where I came up with the gym concept of Prenatal Fit. A gym dedicated to this very challenging time in a woman’s life. Prenatal Fit has evolved since we first opened by adding more postpartum programs and classes. For example adding two new mom support groups and Mommy and me toddler classes for my growing babies.
What are the most popular and/or newest classes from Prenatal Fit?
Prenatal Fit’s most popular class format is still Prenatal Yoga. Prenatal Pilates is definitely a close second. Health Providers are noticing the benefits of yoga/pilates with their patients. Some benefits they have been observing are their comfort with their growing bellies, benefits for endurance and strength during labor, and seeing faster recoveries after birth.
What sets Prenatal Fit apart from other prenatal classes?
We have a variety of formats, like the latest trends ballet barre, Yoga Sculpt, strength and cardio classes. We also offer a variety of times day/night/weekend classes. Prenatal Fit has only 10 students per class, giving all our students individual attention. Another great aspect about Prenatal Fit is our emphasis on Community. Our walls are covered with pictures of our pregnant members and their babies, we have section for baby stories to share, clothes/baby items share drop off section, and a community board/Facebook page exclusively for our members to keep in touch.
