From cleaning babies during diaper changes to wiping messy hands and removing leftover food from their cute little faces, baby wipes are a convenient way to clean babies. But some wipes, though they say they’re all-natural, contain ingredients that can trigger allergic reactions. Drawing upon her experiences with her own child and background in manufacturing, Emily Frazer founded WaterPura, LLC to give mommies a chemical-free, safe way to clean their babies. WaterPura’s baby water wipes contain 99.9% water and a drop of citrus extract. That means no harsh chemicals, oils, or fragrances, resulting in wipes that are safe for the most sensitive baby’s bottom.
WaterPura will be at the 2017 Chicago Baby Show, on August 26 and 27, at Navy Pier, when the nation’s largest show for expectant and new families comes to Chicagoland. A family-friendly mega-event featuring everything to do with maternity, baby, and toddler – from top products to trusted parenting experts – the Chicago Baby Show will welcome thousands of expectant and new parents from Chicago, the surrounding suburbs, and beyond!
Tickets to the Chicago Baby Show are $30 per family, and $20 per individual.

For someone unfamiliar with WaterPura, how would you describe the company’s mission and core offerings?
WaterPura’s mission is to give moms a safe and easy way to keep their baby clean all day without chemicals. WaterPura’s baby water wipes are made with 99.9% water and a drop of citrus extract.
Tell us about WaterPura’s background. When did it start? How has it evolved since then?
My idea for WaterPura started in 2013 after I was blessed with my beautiful, redheaded baby boy, Archie. I knew I would have to be careful with his sensitive skin. Although I was very conscientious about keeping his bottom clean, he developed a terrible diaper rash. I started to think that the baby wipes I was using were part of the problem. Even though they claimed to be “natural,” the back of the package looked like all the rest—an alarming list of chemical ingredients.
I switched immediately to soft cloths and water, and my baby got better. So I asked myself, “Why can’t there be a baby wipe with just water and no chemicals?” And that’s how WaterPura began.
The first thing I learned was that this was going to be harder than I thought. Fortunately, my day job was working in the family business—we manufacture private brand laundry and household cleaning products—so I knew something about production and quality control. But the biggest advantage the family business gave me was a network of scientists and independent testing labs. I made many Ziploc bags of chemical-free wipes in my kitchen, and day-by-day, we got better and better, until finally in May 2016 we had something that really worked.
In July 2016, I made my first production run of 500 sample packs. Everything tested out perfectly, and people loved them! So my sister designed a fun soft-pack, and in October 2016, we made 10,000 more.
It took about three years from idea to production, and that might seem like a long time. I was a new mom with a full-time job, and this product had to be perfect. I really feel we’ve created something special here.
